Interested in Having Furry Friends
Visits
At Your Facility?
Thank you for your interest in Furry Friends. The following information describes our program in more detail and outlines the process we use to certify new facilities. If you have any questions you can call our office at 1-877-4FF-PATS or send email to board@furryfriends.org.
Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services works with facilities throughout the San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties of northern California.
We do not perform services at individual’s homes nor do we allow our volunteers to do one-on-one visits.
We work at hospitals, convalescent homes, assisted living facilities, senior centers, mental health facilities, Alzheimer units, hospices, children’s facilities and shelters.
Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services maintains a $1 million insurance policy. It protects your staff and residents should one of our volunteers or their animals cause any damage. It is important to note that since our inception in 1983, Furry Friends has never needed to make a claim against our insurance policy.
The approval process starts with the following form. We will then contact you to schedule a 15-minute phone conversation to explain our program to you and to review your requirements. After that we will arrange for an on-site visit by one of our volunteers with their animal.
The volunteer will provide a written assessment to our board of directors. The board meets once a month and will review the application at that time.
Our program works on a team concept. No team can be approved without a team captain. We have a number of volunteers who might be interested in captaining the team at your site. Alternatively, you might want to have one of your staff members join Furry Friends (they don’t need a pet to join) and have that individual be the team captain.
If you have any questions please call us at 877-4FF-PATS or send us an email at board@furryfriends.org.
