Interested in volunteering with Furry Friends?
On behalf of the over 500 volunteers that make up Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services, thank
you for your interest in joining our organization. Furry Friends visits facilities throughout San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties of northern California.
General Information
The minimum age for Furry Friends volunteers is 12. Volunteers between
the ages of 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult Furry Friends member.
The minimum age for pet volunteers is:

Dogs - 1 year

Cats - 1 year

Rabbits - 8 months

Love Birds - 8 months

Parrots - 1 year

Miniature horse - 1 year

Regardless of pet age, you must have owned the pet for a minimum of 6 months before they are eligible to participate in Furry Friends.
Class Schedule
Review our schedule of Etiquette classes. Every volunteer and their pet are required to attend an hour-and-a-half Etiquette class. You will be placed in a class after your forms are submitted and reviewed.
Before signing up for a Reading Buddies class, you must complete 6 months of visits on another Furry Friends team.

Fees
New Volunteer Fee ** $50/person
Etiquette Class Fee $50/person
Annual Membership *** $50/person, $75/family
Family Membership is available upon renewal for your second and subsequent years of membership.
** New Volunteer fee is charged when you join the organization. It includes your first-year membership dues, plus a Furry Friends t-shirt and leash. If your animal doesn’t pass the Etiquette class, the $50 new volunteer fee will be refunded to you.
*** Memberships fees are charged annually and are due December 1st.
